Welcome to Weiss Grove!
Our community of 54 homes and property is located on the south side of Galway Lake, in the Town of Galway, Saratoga County. Galway Lake is primarily fed by the Chuctanunda Creek and its tributaries, and is still designated as a Reservoir. In the past the lake provided water for use by the various factories and mills in Amsterdam. No gas motors are permitted on the lake and the water is of exceptional quality.
Weiss Grove was originally part of the Weiss family farm and evolved over the years from rented tent campsites in 1922 to year-round and vacation homes that now make up our neighborhood. In 1942 the owners formed a Not-For Profit Corporation called Weiss Grove Campers Association, Inc., (WGCA) in order to govern, manage, and maintain the character of the Grove, as well as the safety of its residents. The Corporation is a membership organization, and all persons who own property are considered members. In order to vote during general membership meetings, rent the clubhouse, use the roads, recreation field, dumpsters, and any other convenience provided by the association, a member is required to pay all dues and assessments in a timely manner.
The WGCA provides its members with a recreation field, a basketball court, pickleball court, and swings. Located at the far end of the field, the Frank P. Santoro Clubhouse is available for rental (see form section) by any member in good standing. The building provides an enjoyable setting for parties, group meetings and picnics. The portable bathroom and dumpsters are provided and located next to the clubhouse for convenience.
Responsibility for the governance and welfare of the Association’s members rests with an elected Board of Directors comprised of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, and six Directors. Each year a General Membership meeting is held in July, or at the discretion of the Board, at which time the members elect any officers and/or directors as necessary. Members vote on all important matters and are able to voice concerns and suggest changes at the yearly meeting. The members of WGCA are also members of the Galway Lake Campers Association, Inc. (GLCA) which owns and maintains Galway Lake. In order to maintain active membership in both associations, dues must be paid on a timely basis, no later than September 1st. WGCA dues are used solely for the maintenance of The Frank P. Santoro Fieldhouse, common areas, roads, and yearly amenities provided for the convenience of residents. Our Capital Fund is a savings account to be used in the future for extensive repairs that may become necessary – such as repair and replacement of Weiss Road, the clubhouse or tree service.
Currently the Officers and Directors of WGCA are:
Thom Siragusa – President
Jim Raimo – VP
Andre LaBonte – Secretary
Jody Crowley – Treasurer
Board Members: Joe Pinkans, Dave Nuzzi, Gary Gifford, Crystal Cobert , Sue Arcaro and one vacancy
